Kelly Henson is instructor in humanities and teaches primarily in literature. “Academy students and faculty support one another’s unique interests and talents. Seminar-style classes nurture bold and logical thinking and provide a solid foundation in intellectual culture. Josef Pieper notes that culture flourishes when people have the leisure to pursue understanding and expression of the good, the true, and the beautiful.  When a community lives within this ethos of joyful exploration, creativity and initiative naturally flow.”

Mrs. Henson practices a formalist, text-based approach to literature. “Without viewing the text as primary, authentic academic consideration becomes diluted by reader-response issues or ideologically forced conclusions. Critical and creative thinking based on an attentive observation and discussion of a knowable text teaches a method of approaching life.”

Mrs. Henson finished her B.A. in English language and literature at Christendom College.
