Nancy Bryant is instructor in humanities. One of her favorite thoughts is St. Thomas More’s: “The whole fruit of their educational endeavors should consist in the testimony of God and a good conscience. Thus they will be inwardly calm and at peace and neither stirred by praise of flatterers nor stung by the follies of unlearned mockers of learning.”

“I came to the Academy eager to join a community that prizes a sound mind and a courageous soul.” This eagerness is evident in Miss Bryant’s enthusiastic, intelligent, and passionate teaching.

“I love to teach. Learning is a life-long adventure and my hope is that I can help students reach beyond their own perspectives to become active participants in the world. My approach to learning is spirited and warm, and it demands student involvement. To instill knowledge, compassion and a strong moral courage, students must be inspired to learn, to hope and to act.”

Miss Bryant earned her B.A. in art history and Latin at the University of the South. She has also studied history and art at the University of Oxford, and is now pursing a graduate certificate in adolescent literacy from the University of Virginia.
