History

A Growing Tradition of Excellence!

St. Thomas More Academy was founded to provide an outstanding and affordable college preparatory education in the Catholic tradition for North Raleigh and its surrounding areas.

2002: St. Thomas More Academy is founded with permission of the Most Reverend F. Joseph Gossman, Bishop of Raleigh. First classes meet at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, then at Twin Forks Office Center, Raleigh.

2004: School relocates to larger facility at Paragon Park Road, Raleigh.

2006: The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge is installed as Bishop of Raleigh and diocesan support for the school is reaffirmed.

2007: School relocates to larger facility at Spring Forest Road, Raleigh. Bishop Burbidge blesses the new 19,000 square foot, 3 acre campus housing a chapel, a library, faculty offices, eight classrooms, and science, art, and technology labs.

2010: School enrollment reaches 125 students.
